My teaching philosophy is based on student centered learning, that each student learns in their own unique way. It is crucial to nourish students’ curiosity and enable them to critically think for themselves, thus giving them the tools to continue to grow as musicians and educators post-college. For my younger students, music lessons help achieve music appreciation, discipline, problem solving, teamwork, and creative skill sets that can be applied elsewhere in life. 

I am a strong advocate for fundamentals, as well as pushing my students to audition for competitions, festivals, honor bands, and prestigious programs (goal-oriented). 

I am fortunate to have hard working students who have been accepted into the South Carolina All-State and regional honor bands, the Juilliard Advancement Music Program, the South Carolina Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Bands of America Tournament of Roses Honor Band.
